Biography
After only four years in the industry, Darren has already built up a Blue Chip client list consisting of X-Box, ITV, Virgin Mobile, The Discovery Channel, Amazon.com, Nintendo Wii, British Telecom, Cisco Systems, Intel, Learn Direct, cashback.co.uk, Gala/Coral, Unite and Webex.
Darren prides himself on being extremely versatile and adaptable. Whether it's hard sells, reassuring reads, dynamic jingles & promos, clean on hold deliveries or narrations. His natural style has earned him national TV adverts as the voice of Jacamo men’s clothing website, Bayonetta a brand new game for Playstation and X-Box Live and Cashback.co.uk.
With a talent for characters, accents and impressions, Darren has been sought after by animators who wanted his voice talents for cartoons and clients requesting celebrity impressions! He can be heard playing the main character in Dimensity, an adventure game for PC , numerous characters in a new digitally animated version of The Happy Prince and Stonewall, a big Scottish brute in a game for the Wii.
A professional drummer, Darren studied at Trinity College Of Music, Leeds College of Music and The Guildhall School of Music And Drama. Darren had a love of radio from a young age and would record his favourite DJ's onto tape and collect their jingles!
When studying for his A Levels at the age of 17, Darren spent 2 years on Radio St Helier, a hospital radio station in Sutton, south London. He presented jazz and classical music shows, before progressing to the main 3 hour slot. He would regularly go to the station during the day and spend hours making jingles and planning his show. This is where his love of production grew!
Darren left the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1998, completing his musical education. Today, he enjoys a diverse career as a freelance drummer performing and recording with pop artists such as Will Young, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Darren Hayes (Savage Garden), big bands (London Jazz Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Big Band), jazz trios, West End shows, (The Rat Pack, Abbamania) and recording numerous film (Ella Enchanted, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers) and TV soundtracks (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels)
His musical education has given him a unique understanding and consideration of pitch, timing, pace and intonation, and his remarkably keen ear makes Darren an extremely versatile and adaptable voiceover artist.
